Iron Man 3 is a fictional superhero movie about an American billionaire manufacturer of advanced computer systems Tony Stark. It was organized by Shane Black, and stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Rebecca Hall and Guy Pearce. The objective is to act as guardians for Earth. The film's development began when Marvel Studios and Disney announced in January 2012 that they were considering to develop a sequel to the film. Black and Favreau, who directs the first two films, were set to return respectively as director and producer. In his preceding appearance in the Iron Man series, Stark's near self-sacrifice is revealed to have left him haunted by his own errors that he made in the course of saving Pepper Potts. Stark is traumatized by nightmares of his near-death experience, but still heads Tony Stark Enterprises (Stark Industries), having built many more Iron Man suits than before. Stark begins living in Malibu, California with Potts, his girlfriend. He has constructed many new innovative weapons for the military and for use by SHIELD (Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement Logistics Division, which was created to contain Stark's "atomic" technology), among them the Iron Man armor. The film is based on the Marvel Comics character who starred in seven published stories between 1970 and 1974.Iron Man 3 is one of the most anticipated films of the year 2013. This movie had more than $200 million on its opening day on May 3, 2013 (including more than $40 million on Thursday). The film also opened at No. 1 in all three major markets - North America (excluding Mexico), Australia, and South Korea. It opened in Mexico on May 4 and in China on June 14, 2013. It grossed $372 million in its first five days and $174.1 million (worldwide) by the end of its second weekend to take over the domestic box office top spot from Star Trek Into Darkness, which made it the first comic-book adaptation film to gross over $1 billion at the box office after Avatar.
